Not till the loom is silent.....
Not till the loom is silent And the shuttle cease to fly Shall God unroll the canvas And explain the reason why The dark threads are as needful In the weavers skilful hand As the threads of gold and silver In the pattern he has planned
This verse hung on my bedroom wall as a child. At about 9 years old my mother explained its meaning. It was not much comfort to me a year later, when my father died, though it has been of some help to explain other sad deaths and events. In our version the word "reveal" was used instead of "explain".
The posts in this blog, specifically those relating to mytholgy and meanings and origins of words, are the result of looking up stuff that I find intersting. These posts must be taken at face value, and hopefully serve as a catalyst to dig further for greater insight. Constructive comments would be appreciated but not expected. Definitions from Britannica World Language edition of the Oxford Dictionary, unless otherwise stated
